Documentary. 56 minutes. USA. English.
Black, White and Yellow is a personal documentary that explores the relationship between
two sisters, one an Afro-Asian adopted from Hong Kong and the other a white American, as
they grow up together in Tokyo, Chicago and Ithaca. The film tackles issues about ethnic
identity, interracial families and international adoption. Black, White and Yellow was
filmed over a number of years and demonstrates the enduring bonds of sisterhood beneath
the inevitable ups and downs of growing up in an interracial, adopting family embedded in
cultures where race and adoption are still sensitive topics. Black, White and Yellow won
the Blue Ribbon at The Arizona International Film Festival in April, 2007Screenings
